This building was a studio group collaboration with the Workshop Studio in the Spring of 2010. The program was to design a new student center for Columbia College in Chicago. We were to design a space that would be inviting to students and, due to the constraints of the dense urban Chicago site, we were to design it to fit on one city block. We focused on the following items when designing the student space:

1. Visual connection through the entire space

2. Give organic and energetic form to the floor plates

3. Create a dappled light effect throughout the building

4. Socratic Method

5. Anti-Atrium
